i am asked by almost every wedding photography client who comes through my door to recommend a wedding videographer and every time i think to myself, ‘you don’t want a “videographer”. you want a cinematographer.’ what’s the difference? plenty! when i hear the word videographer, i think ‘tired, uninspired, lazy, just there for the pay check.’ a true cinematographer on the other hand takes the time to produce oscar quality work; something you can’t get anywhere else. many cinematographers, at least those who are worth their weight in gold, scout locations, storyboard shots, seeing the shots no one else would take the time to see and produce wedding films that capture the beauty, the energy and the emotions of a wedding day. in saying that, i’ve created this post as a one stop view of the cinematographers i would want to create a film of my wedding day. my personal favorite is americana cinema.
first up – americana cinema based in los angeles.
Coco + James // Short film from Americana Cinema on Vimeo.
second – still motion based in toronto.
and finally – i do films based in chicago.
beautiful creations.

my dear friend miodrag “mekey” guberinic is a constant inspiration to me. his sheer talent in costume design, fashion design, painting, watercolor, sketching – and the list goes on and on. blows my mind how talented he is. currently commissioned by northwestern university for a masters degree, mekey has done some amazing shows there, wearing many hats including set design, lighting design and costume design. i can’t wait to see the things he does with his career. i predict tony awards and oscar awards in his future. …continue reading

i can’t say that the movie up is the reason i love photograph weddings, but this scene from up summarizes why i do; that for a brief, brief moment, i am able to capture the feeling this scene gives – a glimpse into the love between two people. i tear-up everytime i see this.
i think the rsa animate videos are so cool. take some time and watch. “bestselling author, political adviser and social and ethical prophet jeremy rifkin investigates the evolution of empathy and the profound ways that it has shaped our development and our society.”
